The ethical commitment of the Emak Group, the parent company of Comet, of which Lavor is a part, continues, since it has decided to expand its investment in environmental protection with **the purchase of 342** [**Sustainability Credits**](https://creditisostenibilita.it/).

Through this concrete action, the company **offsets the emission of 342 tons of CO2**, produced by the Italian car fleet in 2023, **building a greener future.**

## Emak, Comet, Lavor: Sustainability Leaders

*Starting from the territory to make concrete choices capable of distributing value to the local communities in which these companies operate*.

This has always been the mission of Emak, Comet, Lavor and all the companies that are part of the Emilia group, which daily opt for **ethical, green and environmentally-friendly** choices. A doubly recognized and rewarded commitment, which in 2024 brought the group access to the “[Sustainability Leaders](https://www.statista.com/page/leader-sostenibilita)” ranking, prepared by **Statista/Il Sole 24 ore**, and the “**Champions of Sustainability**” list, prepared by the German Institute for Quality and Finance (Itqf).

In fact, the purchase of Sustainability Credits is not an isolated action, but is part of the broader initiative “**Scope1 emissions zeroing plan produced by the car fleet of Italian companies”**, approved in spring 2024.

By offsetting 342 tons of CO2, the company is taking the first concrete step toward the realization of a complex and ambitious goal: to **reduce the environmental impact of cars**, favoring hybrid, electric and less polluting solutions, including through a **new car policy** that will be released in the coming months.

## Upgrading the environment with the Sustainability Credits: the future is now

**Building a more ethical and healthy future is the goal of any entity that decides to invest in a sustainable development path.** Carrying out concrete actions and interventions that can be implemented right away is what makes it possible to **transform one’s daily life into a long-term green vision.**

This is the exceptional step taken by **Lavor** and all the entities belonging to the Emak Group, which with the purchase of **342 Sustainability Credits offers the territory of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines an opportunity to regenerate itself, counteracting climate change.**

Indeed, with the Sustainability Credits project, the companies committed to corporate social responsibility do have the opportunity to **finance new and innovative resources for their local area, preserving its value and looking ahead to tomorrow.** This initiative, launched in 2023 by the [Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park](https://www.parcoappennino.it/Eindex.php), was created with the goal of **managing the entire forest area in a sustainable and responsible manner**.

The special nature of the project means that the body’s vision is not only about protecting the nature area as such, but also takes into account **additional ancillary benefits**, such as:

- **Climate change mitigation** by implementing carbon stocks in forest reservoirs;
- **Supply materials**, such as food, water, wood and fiber;
- **Temperature regularization**;
- New **cultural and tourism services**, for tangible enhancement of the area;
- **Support for other forms of plant and animal biodiversity**.

In order to enable the participation and support of businesses, **the governing body has established some criteria that go into defining**:

- What is a **Sustainability Credit**;
- How the **cycle of generating and selling Sustainability Credits** is developed;
- **How companies can join the project**.

### What is a Sustainability Credit

**One sustainability credit is equivalent to one ton of CO2 and** is the unit with which to determine the sale. The definition of Credits is validated according to PEFC and FSC certifications, as well as guaranteed by partners such as leading universities, research institutions and a Scientific Committee.

## How the cycle of generating and selling Sustainability Credits is developed

Businesses, inevitably, produce CO2. **By purchasing Credits they can offset emissions and support the implementation of sustainable forestation techniques**. In fact, these interventions increase the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by plants, improving air quality and the environment.
